Beauty of the mountains
For those looking for a woodlands retreat that may be in their own backdoor, you can not overlook the possibility of the majestic Aspen honeymoon destination. Aspen was originally founded to be a mining camp during the Silver Boom of Colorado, and was named after the abundance of aspen trees that are scattered in throngs throughout the city. As such, you can not get a more woodlands experience than the one you will find at Aspen. Today, Aspen has become a hotspot for celebrities, and so if you are looking to get your celebrity itch scratched, you just never know who you are going to see in Aspen. John Denver has been to Aspen so many times that he’s even written songs about the town with his work on “Starwood in Aspen” and “Aspenglow”. Not many people come here for the attractions in the city itself, but come here to enjoy the glorious views, elegant ambience, and maybe even spot a celebrity or two.
When to Go
When it comes to activities, if you truly are a celebrity spotter, you will want to book your honeymoon during the Christmas holidays, though you won’t be able to do so on a tight budget. However, Aspen is THE place to be for Tinseltown folks during the holidays, and you will certainly have your thirst for celebrities quenched this time of year more than any other. In terms of weather, Aspen is a smidge on the cool side of life, but summer temperatures will peak at around 75 degrees Fahrenheit, and winters average in the low 30’s. Like any other woodlands retreat, pack accordingly for the lower temperatures, but no matter what season you arrive, there will be plenty to do.
What to Do
You will not be short of things to do in Aspen, no matter when you arrive. Sports for either winter or summer can be enjoyed here, from golfing to skiing and snowboarding to hiking and biking and even ice skating. If you are not so athletically inclined, some attractions may interest you such as the Wheeler Opera House, the huge selection of art galleries, the trendy outlet shopping, or stop into John Denver Sanctuary Park and maybe even catch a photoshoot for Vogue in progress. There are also an abundance of festivals all throughout the year for every interest from art, to wine, to food, and so many more.
