America’s Favorite Drive

When it comes to scenic places to visit, you do not want to miss out on all that Asheville, North Carolina and the Blue Ridge Mountains have to offer. Here you can take what has been described by Good Morning America as one of the most beautiful places in the country to visit, and you can do all of that on what has been officially dubbed “America’s Favorite Drive”. The drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway is an experience that you just won’t take for granted, and you will see quickly why it is called America’s favorite. Enjoy a slow paced drive through the mountains to see stunning vistas and up close and personal views of the mountains themselves. The Parkway drive can be as long or as short as you like, as it spans a total of 469 miles giving you mile upon mile of enjoyment before your honeymoon even begins.

When to Go

Like many other mountain locales, there is no bad time to go to the Blue Ridge Mountain range. This is one of America’s leading year round destinations for honeymooners, where you can enjoy cool but temperate summers, or intimate and secluded winters.

What to Do

Any sport that you enjoy whether that be skiing or kayaking can be enjoyed here depending on your season. White water rafting, tubing, bike rides, or a stop in the National Forest to check out the flora and fauna will be a great trip for nature lovers. Perhaps you prefer to check out historical landmarks, in which case you will want to visit the Biltmore Estate. Additionally, some time spent in your mountain resort with some spa time and honey and me time will be an unforgettable time as well. Other things to do include checking out the Linville Falls, the most photographed waterfalls in the state, or drive to the summit of Mt. Mitchell. Gardeners will love to look at Craggy Gardens, and artisans may want to check out the Folks Art Center. Arts and crafts to purchase are available in the art galleries which number over one hundred, and the town of Asheville offers some unique and quaint shopping experiences as well.
